thecone The Cone

I love to try out new and innovative products and especially those that really break the mold.  Well, the Cone, is certainly such a device.  And, I say device because calling it a sex toy (even though that is its purpose) seems strange.  Needless to say, I have been coveting the Cone since it appeared on the European market.

Unfortunately, unique designs like these (such as the We-Vibe [my review]) take a lot of trial and error, and are usually more of a novel idea than a product that is purely practical.  Now, I don’t want to dissuade you from wanting to try the Cone as it does have many distinctive qualities and thrills that many people will find exciting, orgasmic and practical.

The Cone is a spherical pyramid shape and is about the size and weight of honeydew melon.  It has a huge motor inside that powers 16 speeds / functions with multiple vibration areas that move around it, but center at the peak.  Some of the vibrations feel deep at the core, while others climax at the apex.  There are gentle undulations, rolling “thunder” vibrations, escalating Va-va-vroooms and even a bass drum roll setting that feels like someone is playing percussion on your womb.  Setting 16 is called the Orgasm Button and it osculates between various other settings at maximum power.  The speeds /setting are controlled easily with an on | off button (also the Orgasm Button) and a button to cycle through the settings.

So far so good.

But, how the hell do you use this device as a “sex toy”?  There are several ways you “could” use it and several ways I tried it.  It comes with a little pamphlet with illustrations to give you some idea, but no actual directions, so you are left up to your own creativity.

Positions for the Cone

  • Sit on it on a couch.  Sitting directly on the tip is uncomfortable and can be painful.  But wrapping your labia and thighs around it so it fits snug with the clitoris works well.  The most comfortable position for me.
  • Squat on it.  Unless you want a work-out, this is an exhausting position that will leave your thighs quivering before long.
  • Lay belly down with the Cone between your thighs.  No bad, but I find I can’t breathe on my stomach well, so couldn’t get into it.
  • Stick it to the wall with the suction bottom and press yourself backside against it.  Comfortable if you like standing while you masturbate.  I don’t.
  • Stick to the wall lower and go at it doggie style.  Hard to maneuver this way to get it to reach where you want it to be.
  • Lay back and put the point between your thighs.  Comfortable, but doesn’t stimulate well enough as it can’t reach my spots.
  • Curl up on your side and rest it between the thighs.  Also comfortable, but somewhat fetal.  I like to “open up” when I masturbate.
  • On your back, hand-held like a normal vibe.  Hard on the wrists as it is so heavy and difficult to keep in position.

The Cone can and will stimulate the vulva, clitoris and anus as well as the G-spot indirectly.  Clitorally, it doesn’t pinpoint the sensations enough to stimulate that area well.  Vaginally, it doesn’t penetrate deep enough to stimulate there.  It is good for warming up the vulva and anus area before or during sex with a partner.

The Cone has a lot of power, so should get you off.  However, I found the power was too spread out, rather than precise, to really get me worked up.  After a certain point, I knew it wasn’t going anywhere no matter what setting I tried, Orgasm Button and all.

One thing I do think this would be good for is persons with physical limitations or disabilities, as it is hands-free.  I remember reading about a disabled teenager whose caregiver bought him a vibrator so he could masturbate.  Being hands-free the Cone would most likely do this well, especially since you can sit (almost) on it.  Also, it is designed for men as well as women, so mild anal stimulation (or scrotum) works too.  I think it is also more useful as a stimulation toy for partner sex.

The Cone is an interesting if not orgasmic device and if you like to try new strange things, then check it out at VibeReview.  I’m sure there are many more ways to try to use this thing and what feels orgasmic (or not) to me will be different for you.

pocket rocket booster Pocket Rocket Booster

My first vibrator was the Original Pocket Rocket and it taught me how to have my first clitoral orgasm on my own.  Since then, I’ve moved on to bigger, shiner, more expensive sex toys, but the Rocket will always have a place in my desk top drawer.  I have tried many other Rockets over the years, including the 3-speed Pocket Rocket Plus, which, up until I tried the Pocket Rocket Booster, was my go-to vibe in a pinch.

The Pocket Rocket Booster blasts the hell out of any other rocket I have tried.  It’s the rocket on Viagra.

Unlike all other Pocket Rockets, the Booster has two components: 1) The Rocket vibrator and 2) the booster controller which attaches to it with a plug-in cord.  You can use the vibe itself solo, which is convenient, but it becomes a whole other toy when attached to the booster.  It is like a mini Hitachi Magic Wand [my review] (and actually has more power per size than the Hitachi, if you were comparing it to like an ant vs. a human).  Really no comparison.  Seriously, if you like small clitoral vibes with the maximum amount of power and vibration a toy can give you, then the Pocket Rocket Booster is your toy.  It now has the superior position of being located in my top desk drawer (my masturbation drawer!).

Power: 10 Speeds from buzz to blast-off

Functions: 5 Variations of undulations and pulsations

You can purchase the Pocket Rocket Booster at VibeReview.

 Bandito

So last week I reviewed two strapless strap-on dildos: the Share [my review] and the Feeldoe More [my review].  This week I’m taking a look at a harness-compatible strap-on dildo, the Bandito.  First of all, the name: Bandito is interesting. Def: “…an outlaw especially of Mexican extraction or origin…” Not sure where Fun Factory came up with this name, but I like to think of the Bandito as an outlaw and a bit of a rebel, in that it is unlike any other dildo I have ever owned, and yes I do own a few.  I can almost see him swaggering into a dusty old saloon and driving the saloon girls crazy.  [Insert the theme from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" here].  But instead of a gun belt, he’s wearing a strap-on harness and is ready for love.

Like all Fun Factory sex toys, the Bandito is made of medical grade silicone and is beautifully designed both for function (very important) and for looks.  The Bandito is the sexiest cock I own, which, being a bit of a Fashionista is important to me.  But, most important is how it works and this cock delivers.

First, it has a perfect G-spot curve much like the Curve dildo [my review] and has elevated whorls that are not just stylish, but give added stimulation to the old in-and-out.  It also features a pronounced nubbin knob on the underside of the head that applies pressure to the G-spot on every out stroke.  This is a bit different feeling than any other dildo I have used and is definitely an effective design function, as my G-spot responded wonderfully to this little nub.  Although it is short (5.5 insertable inches) and of average girth (4.5 inches), this works well for G-spot stimulation, as a woman’s G-spot is only 1″-2″ inside the vagina wall.  I image it would be perfect for prostate massage as well.

The Bandito features a flared tri-sided base that allows it to fit comfortably into a harness to use as a strap-on.  I haven’t seen a whole lot of G-spot dildos that are harness compatible and function as well as this one does.  Many G-spot dildos are hand-held, so this is very cool.  I would love to have someone use it on me with a strap-on to see how it feels when someone else is controlling the thrust.  Any takers?

Overall, the Bandito may be the nicest dildo I own in all respects.  It is certainly the most versatile, even better than my Curve (that I am always raving about!) and is as good as the Curve for G-spot if not better.  The Bandito is a must have dildo.  It has it all, and is really the only dildo you ever need to own.  I love my new rebel cock and can’t wait to show him off.  Look out boys and girls, there’s a new cock in town, and he’s a lover not a fighter.  His name is Bandito.

Thank you to VibeReview for allowing me to review this sexcellent dildo!  Check them out for more great reviews and stellar sex toys.

marymermaid Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

I want to start off by stating that I am not an advocate for dual-purpose vibrators.  I have tried several including the We-Vibe [my review], the Rabbit Habit, and the Snugglepuss [my review], all with similar disappointing results.  How I wanted to be like Miranda from Sex in the City and fall in love with my dual-action vibes, but alas, it was never meant to be.

However, I had very high hopes for Mary Mermaid for several reasons.  First, it is designed by Fun Factory, one of my favorite sex toy designers who also makes my beloved G-spot dildo the Curve [my review].  It features a beautiful sleek design that is whimsical, without dubbing down the toy to make it look like a kid’s toy.  Even a grown woman like me may have a secret fantasy for mermaids.  Rabbits-on the other hand-have never been very sexy to me.  The design of the tail was something that also got my attention, and I imagined those wide flippers licking deliciously against my clitoris and causing me to having crazy, awesome orgasms.

The reality it this:  Mary, Mary is quite contrary.  She is beautifully designed, but is more “art for art sake” than functional.  Her phallus-shaped body is fine for penetration, although becomes slimmer on the end, so not ideal for G-spot stimulation.  I prefer a larger, more bulbous head for my G-spot.  And, although she “twists and shakes” neither is sufficient enough to get me overly excited.  The real bummer, however, is Mary’s tail that promised me orgasms but did not deliver.  The tail should have been designed much longer and closer together, so it would snuggle the clitoris on both sides.  As it is, neither side reaches my clit without a struggle.  And, trying to keep the tail on your clit while pumping the dildo to and fro is an exercise in frustration.

Unfortunately, I’m back to using two toys again that do a great job together (one for G-spot and the other for clitoral) rather than a dual-action that does neither.  I’m afraid I will never be converted to a dual-action toy, although I am always so tempted to keep trying.  So, back in the ocean with you Mary Mermaid.  Let’s see if you will sink or swim.

Smart Balls

smartballs Smart Balls

Smart Balls by Fun Factory are made from “Elastomed” skin-friendly coated material on the outside with small weighted balls inside that move and vibrate with the motions of your body. They come in many juicy colors; I received Pistachio, which looks so lovely I want to eat them up. I have never had a product that I didn’t like from Fun Factory as they manufacture high quality sex toys from the best body-friendly materials. I have used other types of balls before including Ben-wa Balls. These balls all have the same basic function, which is to enhance kegel exercises and promote PC muscle health in women. Some people find that they have also a stimulating effect, but I have never found them arousing, only interesting in the way they vibrate.

Smart balls are much larger than ordinary Ben-wa balls or beautiful Luna Beads by Lelo, and for that reason may be a bit challenging for women with small vaginas. Using lots of lube and slow insertion should solve that problem. The balls are attached together by a sinewy elastomer string and are meant to be inserted one after the other. I had no problem getting the first ball inserted, but the second one was a bit harder, as the top ball didn’t seem to want to push further inside and my fingers were slippery. I did finally get both balls inside however. They filled me pretty completely and like I said before felt interesting as I moved around. The texture was not bad. I did notice them inside me, but they were not uncomfortable. I did a bit of belly-dancing and the balls did vibrate much more with hip gyrations, but again the sensation was a subtle fluttering.

For doing kegel exercises I found them to be amazing. Smarts Balls are like barbells for your vagina which increases resistance and gives you something to squeeze around. Kegels exercises are recommended for women to enhance their PC muscle and overall vagina health (see my article on PC Health and Kegels). You can actually wear these balls out in public and do your kegels through-out the day if so inclined. Although, for me my PC muscles are fairly well toned and just simple movements would involuntarily push them out, which reminds me of a stripper I saw once at a bar who could do amazing things with ping-pong balls.

The balls are removed fairly easily via a retrieval string and the sensation is much nicer than going in, reminding me somewhat of anal beads.

I wouldn’t recommend these as an orgasm toy, but by doing regular kegels with these you will improve the intensity and control of your orgasms.
