The 8th Day is the newest “blockbuster” adult film by Adam & Eve.  It is epic, and by that I mean long.  It has two disks for the film itself with over 4 hours of “action” and 9 hours of DVD extras on two other disks.  It has also been getting some great reviews including the coveted XCritic Pick and is currently the “#1 Adult Movie in America”.

This is a porn with plot film.  If you are more of a gonzo guy or girl, you won’t like this film.  However, if your favorite films are Pirates or Fashionsitas, you may get into it.  I happen to love Pirates and Fashionistas, but had a different reaction to this film.

Plot

Modeled after the post-apocalyptic dystopian actions films of the 70s like Mad Max and Tank Girl, The 8th Day features Kayden Kross, a Barbie-doll blonde with fake tits in the lead role of Samantha who awakens from a cryogenic slumber to find the world has been destroyed by technology and is now a nomad’s wasteland with warring tribes of survivors.  Turns out it was her father—a scientist and the guy who put her into suspended animation—that is responsible for destroying the world.  So Sam goes out into the now near deserted LA and wanders around for a long, long, time, occasionally finding deformed humans to have sex with or run away from.

She is then kidnapped, but quickly rescued by scavenger Mel (Amber Rayne) and taken to a desert oasis called Elysium Fields where the inhabitants down technology and follow enigmatic leader, Prince Amir.  However, once Amir–whose real name is Dave–finds out it was her father who destroyed the earth, Sam is strapped to a cross and sacrificed to die in the desert.  The end.

Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?!  While the premise of this film is cool, and the setting, costuming and special-effects make-up stand-out including the awesome tribal tattoos that most of the adult performers sport, the film is slow, long, and the sex scenes mediocre to bad.

Rather than bore you with a scene-by-scene breakdown, I’ll talk about the one scene that really shines starring Amber Rayne with Cheyne Collins and Sledge Hammer.  Amber Rayne who was awarded the 2009 AVN Unsung Starlet of the Year award, is amazing.  Not only is she a believable actress which is hard to find in the adult industry, she has lots of other talents.  She really takes on these two guys who are supposed to “cleanse her” of bad technology from her wanderings in the city.  She is the most enthusiastic and skilled cocksucker I’ve ever seen on screen.  And, while I’m not usually into cock-sucking scenes, she had me riveted.  She chokes and gobbles down two cocks back and forth with an animated “Ha!” each time she goes back down and stuffs these huge cocks down her throat like they were putty.  She also is amazing at anal (something she is known for) and DP as well, and these guys can’t get enough of her.  They are crazed as she orders them to give her their cocks and she drives them wild.

The other scenes are far less fantastic, featuring mutant-sex between Kayden Kross, Tommy Gunn and Aaron Wilcoxxx; a phony domination scene featuring Kylie Ireland and Derrick Pierce as sex slave Jandi Lin watches on; an incredibly annoying girl-girl scene with Bree Olson, Poppy Morgan and Tori Black who howl like sex-starved cats gone mad the entire scene; and a fall from paradise inspired scene with Darryl Hanah as Eve (who looks identical to the real Darryl Hannah),Violet Marcell as the snake and Evan Stone as Adam.  There is also an orgy feast featuring many of the above and a final scene with Kayden, Violet and Evan, none of which are worth mentioning.

I didn’t bother watching the extras, because it took four hours of monotonous “action” to watch the feature, and I only have so much time I can spend on a review of a product that in the end, bored the hell out of me.  This is of course my opinion, and you may enjoy the film like so many other reviewers did.  It is definitely worth it to see Amber Rayne’s scene and I suspect she will win another AVN award for this one.

Pirates (2005)

“Pirates” was much anticipated in 2005 when first released, heralded as the most expensive porn made to date and winning eleven AVN Awards including: Best Adult DVD, Best Video Feature, Best All-Girl Sex Scene, Best Actress and Best Actor.  I had the chance to borrow it from a friend and watch it then and was impressed with the production quality, performances, entertainment value and sex scenes.  Now, four years later, I have my very own copy of the three disk set of Pirates and here are my thoughts on this film in retrospect.

Pirates may still be one of the best feature-length porn films ever made.  Seriously.  And, I don’t say that lightly.  As an avid porn collector and aspiring pornographer myself, I am usually pretty hard on mainstream porn flicks.  I typically find most of them boring, unoriginal, and predictable with run of the mill sex scenes that do little to inspire.  But, after viewing Pirates again, I am even more impressed with it than I was the first time.  The only films that I can compare it with are Caligula (1980) Unrated Version (not really a porn) and Fashionistas (2003) [my review].

Pirates (2005)

First of all, it is porn with plot, and manages to keep the viewer’s interest throughout the film, if you like those kind of films, which I do.  Inspired by “Pirates of the Caribbean” it is a swash-buckling story about a wicked pirate, Captain Victor Stagnetti (Tommy Gunn) who kidnaps Manuel Valenzuela (Kris Slater), and the pirate hunters who try to rescue him for his newly-wedded bride Isabella (Carmen Luvana).  The story follows the incompetent pirate hunter Captain Edward Reynolds (Evan Stone) and his sexy first-mate Jules (Jesse Jane) hot on Stagnetti’s tale, as they hit the high seas for action-packed adventure, swordplay, and occasional romps between the sheets in exotic locations, pirate hideaways, bordellos and deserted islands.  It is funny, entertaining, and filled with action, to carry you along from scene to scene.

The production value is high quality (filmed in high-def) featuring real locations in California and Florida, excellent set design and costumes, a full musical score, reasonably authentic special effects, and superb sound and picture quality.

Pirates (2005)

Most of the sex scenes are pretty hot and the performances are enthusiastic and raunchy for the most part.  Evan Stone is the highlight of the film with his Captain Kirk-like bravado and turns of phrase that are quite entertaining and witty.  Not to mention, he is sexy as hell and hung like a horse.  Unfortunately, he is only in two sex scenes which do not focus on his ample talents as much as I’d like, which is a shame.  Jesse Jane also does a great job playing the part of a saucy nymphomaniac and is seriously hot in both her girl-girl scenes with Carmen Luvana and later Janine Lindemulder for which they won best lesbian sex scene.  Both girl-girl scenes starring Jesse are nasty as she struggles for dominance and plays rough as if she’s in a dirty cat fight.  Her girl-boy scenes are fairly spectacular as well, as she sure can swallow a cock with that sexy Angelina Jolie mouth of hers.

The sex scene between Tommy Gun and Janine is sexy with Tommy’s amazing body.  Janine is a dominant and well-suited opponent with her Amazonian physique and gives Tommy Gunn quite a fight to see who is exactly in control, although in the image below you’d swear Tommy was winning.  All the stars have wicked bodies and are fucking hot, and it is so awesome to see two of the sexiest guys in porn in this film.  My only criticism is that some of the minor characters (the bordello girls) are not as exciting and I wished they had of had more different types of girls, like some brunettes and red heads, instead of so many typical blondes.  There is only one brunette female in the whole film (Jenaveve Jolie) in a lesbian scene with Carmen Luvana, which is not bad.

Pirates (2005)

Some of the performers have difficultly delivering their lines, which is at times a bit painful and noticeably scripted, but the main cast does a pretty decent job, considering this is a porn.  I was actually impressed how well they could act, when given a chance, especially Stone, Gunn, Jane, Janine and Steven St. Croix.  For a feature film it wouldn’t win any Oscars, but is absolutely entertaining to watch and extraordinary for a porn.  I am so glad that I finally have this film in my own collection, for I am sure to watch it again and again for both the entertainment and stroking value it provides.  Pirates is a must have for any porn collector, is a great couple’s fuck flick and overall excellent film.

I am really looking forward to the sequel, “Pirates II:  Stagnetti’s Revenge” also starring Jesse Jane and Evan Stone, with Belladonna joining the cast, which I will be reviewing soon.  Lots more brunettes in this one: Stoya, Sasha Grey, Brea Lynn, Veronica Rayne, YUM!  “Pirates” is a three disk set with normal version, HD version, and additional features including behind-the-scenes, bloopers, audio commentary and more.

When you think of the term FETISH, a few iconic images might spring to mind.  A slim black stiletto, a latex dress stretched tightly over the curves of a body, noir’s femme fatal with a slim a cigarette, a ring of smoke around her head.  There are probably over a hundred fetishes or paraphilias (I counted 85 on Wikipedia) from Abasiophilia to Zoophilia, who defines “Sexual fetishism, or erotic fetishism, [a]s the sexual attraction to objects or body parts not conventionally viewed as being sexual in nature.”-Wikipedia, List of Paraphilias.

Any object or part of the anatomy can and has been eroticized to the point of where it becomes a fetish.  In Fetish Dolls, it is the women themselves that are the fetish objects along with their body parts: feet, ass, clothed body, tits, and mouth.  The title of the film is very misleading however, as these objects of desire are not fetishized to any large degree, except for a foot fetish scene.  The girls are super hot and in some cases the sex really rocks.  But, for those of you looking for real hardcore fetish kink like Fashionistas, you will be disappointed here.

Scene 1: Foot Fucking with Ava Rose and Brandon Irons

Ava Rose “Surrender Of O,” “Roller Dollz,” “Evil Pink # 4″ teams up with Brandon Iron who truly seems to enjoy feet.  Ava is a dark-haired doll to be sure.  This is the best scene in the film as far as fetishes go and Ava is both talented in how she uses her feet and very limber (she actually gives him a foot-job and a blowjob at the same time).  People who get off on feet will find this scene very arousing as Ava’s feet are truly worshipped and admired.

Scene 2: Ass Banging with Naomi and Marco Banderas

This scene is the most enthusiastic of the film with both Naomi and Marco having great chemistry together.  Naomi has a spectacular ass: it is quite muscular and she does this cool wiggle ass fuck thing that seems to be quite effective on her partner.  The action has a good fast tempo and gets pretty raunchy as she slam fucks and rocks on top of him.

Ava enters a large room wearing a latex top and shorts to meet Tommy who is hot in black leather pants.  Other than their initial introduction, the latex and leather are not specifically given reverence during the scene and Ava is not wearing hers for long.  This scene takes forever to get started and there seems to be a bit of difficultly keeping it up as Ava continuously bobs on Tommy’s knob in between positions and many times during.  Ava has an impressive squirting ejacualtion near the end, but it is hard to get into due to the porn music and the performer’s chemistry together. A very awkward scene.

Scene 4: Breast Worship with Shyla Stylez and Juan Espizedo

Shyla from “Pirates # 2: Stagnetti’s Revenge” and “Fallen” is a blonde with large breasts.  She is especially fond of them herself and plays with them at the beginning of the scene.  She crawls over to Juan and gives him a fantastic blowjob.  But, Juan doesn’t really care.  He is rather robotic and seems to have an affliction for touching Shyla unless it is absolutely necessary.  There is no special attention shown to her very nice breasts by him, although she does give him a boob-job.  The scene is stilted and rather bland because of him, no fault to Shyla.

Scene 5: Oral Fetish with Sativa Rose and Steven St Croix

Sativa is a hot Latin girl who says she enjoys everything to do with oral pleasure.  She does a fine job giving head and the scene isn’t too bad, but there was nothing out of the ordinary about it.  Lots of different positions and then Steven looses his load in his enthusiasm as it shoots right over her head.

I’m not sure what else there is to say about this film, except I was disappointed.  Somewhere between scene one and two them seemed to loose sight of what this film was all about.  It has a pretty box cover and a cool title, but, if you are looking for Fashionistas you will not find that here.  If, however, you want typical vanilla mainstream with a hint of fetish fantasy, this might be the thing for you.  As far as mainstream porn goes, this was not bad and the girls are very hot.
