Remittance Girl is AWOL. Almost a fortnight ago she made a short post on her site after a fairly long period of quiet. While it may simply be a dark piece of writing in its own right, there is a sinister undertone.
Thus far she’s not responded to emails either at her yahoo or personal account and this silence has added to my concern. I think it serves us all to remember that there people behind the words and often real lives in turmoil. While the nom de plume gifts us with the veil of anonymity, in circumstances such as these it can leave friends feeling hopeless. So please RG if read this, write to me. There are many people who care about you.
If anyone reading this has heard word in the last two weeks, please let me know.
I pray that I am very wrong and that she is well. I would much rather make an arse of myself here than neglect a friend in need. Let’s put the grapevine to good use.
I will ask my friends at the Erotica Writers Assoc. if they know anything. But yes, her posting reads like a suicide note to me. I pray we’re both wrong. If you have never read her short story “The Night I was Mel Torme,” you’ve missed a terrific piece of writing.
