Backing up is like a mantra for me. I saw a post somewhere mentioning that Blogger is taking down porn blogs, mostly porn spam blogs. Nevertheless, I’m a little worried. And nothing’s worse than the heartache of having a hard drive crash. I move between 4 machines. Right now, I’m pretty big on backing up online. I haven’t seen anyone saying ‘I have too many backups.’
I have downloaded sites using Adobe Acrobat. But with my site (700 posts), it yields a huge file, 2500 pages and it doesn’t always successfuly download.
I’ve two suggestions. One for email generally, one if you’re using Blogger. And there’s a lot of adult blog on Blogger.
Email: Whatever mail application you use, set up a filter to send mail over to a another email account. I’m using Gmail. I’ve got 3 Gmail accounts for various tasks. One acts solely as a document repository. Need another Gmail account? Please comment here or email me. I can’t find the link to register for an account.
Blogger: Go into Settings and click on the Email tab. Iin the BlogSend Address box, type in the address of an that Gmail account. When you publish, it’ll send that blog post over to the email account. I have three blogs backing up to one account and filters set up so that they are tagged with the name of their blog.
Backup, please. I’m on my knees, begging you. ;-D
