Deadwood’s David Milch
Jun 13th, 2024 by Viviane
Since fucknut Mitzi has posted a comment, here are some more links about David Milch, Deadwood’s creator. I haven’t watched this yet, but it’s in the Netflix queue…which is enormous.
Coming back from Chicago, I read The Misfit: How David Milch got from “NYPD Blue” to “Deadwood” by way of an Epistle of St. Paul, Mark Singer’s New Yorker profile (2/14 & 21/05) issue, which isn’t available online. Interesting facts:
1) While at Yale, Milch was a teaching assistant to Robert Penn Warren (as well as being an alcoholic and heroin addict)
2) was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon (George W. Bush, president), which provided a venue for his main extracurricular activitiy: drinking,
3) bet heavily on the horses
4) while obtaining an M.F.A. in writing at the University of Iowa, manufacturerd clear-light acid.
5) has been in recovery since 1/1/1999.
